Bahamas
- Destinations
Comprised of approximately 700 islands, the term “Out Islands" refers to all but the islands of New Providence, home of Nassau and Paradise Island, and Grand Bahama, home of Freeport/Lucaya. From Nassau, transportation to all of the other islands is available by air or water. New Providence remains the most popular tourist destination, largely due to its international airport and busy cruise ship traffic. Golfers favour the Grand Bahama Island as it offers excellent golfing on courses designed by professionals such as Dick Wilson, Trent Jones Jr., and Joe Lee. As the headquarters of UNEXSO, the Underwater Explorers Society, numerous scuba diving opportunities exist here. Bimini offers top notch big game fishing while bird watchers will enjoy Inagua, home to more than 80,000 flamingoes as well as many other exotic birds. For those seeking total rest and relaxation, the deserted beaches of Cat Island will be welcomed. The Bahamas has something for everyone, no matter the age. Its entertainment spans all tastes and can be enjoyed at the many nightclubs, discos, theatres, and live music and native shows.
