Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas, linking North and South America. As it is geographically located in the tropics Central America is typically regarded as having a tropical, humid climate but it actually has about a dozen different climate zones. Central America does not experience a true winter season although the mountains and plains on the Caribbean side do experience heavy rainfall from September through to February. The Pacific side generally gets little rainfall from December to April as this is the dry season.
